Sovaria vs Supabase

Sovaria and Supabase both give each project a Postgres database with row-level security, auth, storage, functions and realtime, and supabase-js works against Sovaria. Sovaria adds a JSON document store with a Firestore-style API, simulation of access changes before they ship, a timeline that undoes any change, an AI engineer in the console and fixed rupee prices in India. Supabase is open source and self-hostable, has larger free and Pro allowances, and is far more widely used.

  • You rely on its ecosystem: integrations, community answers and hiring.

Choose Sovaria if

  • You want SQL tables and Firestore-style documents in one project, under the same rules.
  • You want to see who can read and change what before a policy or schema change ships, and undo it after.
  • You bill in rupees, or want an AI engineer that does the backend work with your approval.

Questions

Does supabase-js work with Sovaria?

Yes, for tables and RPC: point createClient at your Sovaria project URL and anon key, and from() and rpc() calls use the same REST API shape. Auth, storage and realtime use the Sovaria SDK.

Can I move a Supabase project to Sovaria?

Yes. sov import supabase copies the schema, row-level security policies, users with their password hashes, data and storage, and a dry run shows everything first.

Is Sovaria open source like Supabase?

No. Sovaria is a hosted service. If self-hosting is a requirement, Supabase is the better fit.

Which is cheaper?

Supabase Pro starts at $25 a month and Sovaria Pro at $29 (a fixed rupee price in India). Supabase includes more monthly active users and storage on Free and Pro; compare the allowances for your app on both pricing pages.
